One thing that many in the publishing industry find difficult to grasp, is that consumers no longer pay for content. Instead (and increasingly so), producers must pay to get their message across.
One example of this is a new group of creative artists that are currently creating a co-working space to economically create artwork in a collaborative atmosphere that the community of a shared office space offers:

to Central Vermont’s emerging creative
class – a place to nurture people and
incubate nascent businesses, projects,
and ideas. Through a blended
membership and fee-for-service
business model [blank] Space will
cultivate a sense of creative
community, offer venture support, and
serve as an experience and learning
resource for the larger community.Offerings
[blank] Space will offer several
kinds of services to its customers:
• Space to work, including leased
offices, desks, and lounge.
• Places to meet, including
conference and public
presentation rooms
• Cubbies to store things,
eliminating the fuss of moving to
and from work
• Room to eat and play, including a
basic kitchen and break room
• A place to learn that will include
magazine subscriptions, business
case studies, and streaming
content
• A place to share by using wall
space to communicate ideas and
artwork produced by membersCommunity Engagement
[blank] Space is part of a larger
mission to advance the creative
economy in Vermont in two ways:
• Serve as a platform for sharing,
including micro TED-style talks,
art openings, and hands-on
workshops
• Synthesis and reporting to the
government, business, and
creative community through a
website and quarterly publication
